Net-Interest Income: American Express offers credit to its customers and the interest is earned on these loans. Interest Income contributes 20% of the total revenues.
Non-Interest Income: American Express processes transactions on its network and charges a discount fee on every transaction. A combination of discount fee and other commissions are incorporated in Non-Interest Income. It contributes 80% of the total revenues.
